Dr. Pepper Cupcakes

After making Cherry Coke Brownies, a friend had requested Dr. Pepper cupcakes.
Realizing now that it could be done, I searched the internet for a recipe. I found several different versions on how to make the cupcakes, and settled on a simple version that I knew from the list of ingredients would make a very moist cupcake.
However now I cannot find the page I wrote the recipe down from to reference, and for that I am sorry! But it is delicious!!

Dr. Pepper Cupcakes
Prep: 10 minutes Bake: 15-20 minutes Servings: 24 cupcakes

Preheat oven to 350°
Line 24 muffin cups with paper liners

1 box chocolate cake mix
1 box instant chocolate pudding mix
1 cup vegetable oil
4 eggs
1 can warm Dr. Pepper (I think the Cherry Dr. Pepper would be wonderful as well)

Blend cake and pudding mix together.
Add in vegetable oil and eggs; combine.
Stir in can of Dr. Pepper, mixing slowly as the soda fizzes a lot.

After well combined, fill the liners 2/3 full. I use a 1/4 cup measuring cup and it always works well for the right amount.
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Let rest in cupcake tin for a few minutes, then remove from tin to a cooling rack.
Cool completely.
Then frost:

Dr. Pepper Buttercream Frosting
2 sticks butter, softened
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 2lb bag confectioner's sugar
1-2 tablespoons Dr. Pepper (yes I drank the remaining amount)
Maraschino cherries for garnish

Cream butter and cocoa powder.
Add in confectioner's sugar until well combined.
Pour in Dr. Pepper a little at a time. If frosting gets to running, stop adding and add in a little more sugar until desired consistency is reached.
Pipe onto cupcakes.
Top with a cherry.
